R.B. Knott papers, 1929-1973 (bulk 1929-1945).

The R. B. Knott Papers consist of materials related to R. B. Knott's political career and his affiliation with the Long family. Two volumes relate specifically to Governor Huey P. Long: a copy of the Rules of Procedure of the Senate of the State of Louisiana Sitting as a Court of Impeachment (1929) from Long's impeachment trial, which is signed by the governor, his aides and members of the state legislature and senate staff, as well as a copy of Harvey G. Field's The Life of Huey Pierce Long (1945). Other documents relate to Knott's unsuccessful campaign for the state senate, including his campaign platform, a letter to voters, and a campaign card (ca. 1940). Knott's notes on the rise of the cost of state government and his anti-tax position are also included (ca. 1940). The will of Clara Long Knott is also available (1973).
